I present this tid-bit from the NYT about how nice those Syrian rebels really are.
The Syrian rebels posed casually, standing over their prisoners with firearms pointed down at the shirtless and terrified men.
The prisoners, seven in all, were captured Syrian soldiers. Five were trussed, their backs marked with red welts. They kept their faces pressed to the dirt as the rebels’ commander recited a bitter revolutionary verse.
“For fifty years, they are companions to corruption,” he said. “We swear to the Lord of the Throne, that this is our oath: We will take revenge.”
The moment the poem ended, the commander, known as “the Uncle,” fired a bullet into the back of the first prisoner’s head. His gunmen followed suit, promptly killing all the men at their feet.
This scene, documented in a video smuggled out of Syria a few days ago by a former rebel who grew disgusted by the killings, offers a dark insight into how many rebels have adopted some of the same brutal and ruthless tactics as the regime they are trying to overthrow.
I understand anger and the need for revenge. Where I draw the line is making propaganda videos of the violence. That’s no longer about anger or revenge. Then you also hear that these “poor moderate rebels“, them is John “Francois” Kerry’s words, are busy killing some other problem people. Seriously, these rebels are about as bad, if not worse, than Assad and his clowns.
Look, I will say it again: the best outcome for us in the west is that these people all fight each other to the end. Arm both sides, piecemeal and moderately so neither can get an upper hand, and let them duke it out. Like the Iran-Iraq war, we should all be rooting for – and if possible working towards that goal – both sides to lose. One would think that the lessons of Libya and Egypt would have made that abundantly clear by now, but our credentialed elite intellectual-wanna-be collectivist foreign policy experts, the ones that replaced the cowboy and were going to get the whole world to love us again, are too stupid, too craven, or both.
Leave Syria alone. There is no reason other than to give Team Obama some cover from the scandals that should be leading the news for Syria to even be a concern to us. When you hear stories of emboldened and entrenched leftist senior government bureaucrats EPA SWAT team harasses gold miners in Alaska, or better yet, that workers are yet again getting laid off in higher numbers, and especially as Obama’s signature law, Obamacare, is revealed for the disaster it really is, I can see why Obama and other big government types like keeping Syria in the news.
Shut this idiotic story down. Let those monsters kill eachother off, and lets get down to business discussing how corrupt and tyrannical our best and most transparent administration ever really is and how they are on full assault mdoe against our liberties and rights. That’s the war we should be fighting.
